GSC Group: chemical products for tanneries

History

GSC is an Italian company founded in 1976 by Donato Serafini and Giovanni Gianesini and located in the tannery district of Arzignano (VI), world capital of the tanning industry. In early years, the business of the GSC Group was mainly focused on the resale of colourants for leathers.

Over time and through distribution agreements with leading international brands, the company strengthened and confirmed its position also in other sectors of the tanning industry as in re-tanning, fatliquoring and finishing, until it became an internationally renowned producer of chemical specialities for the tanning industry.

In the 90’s, the GSC Group developed an innovative line of products for water-based finishing (AQ SYSTEM line) which, in those years, was an important change compared to the use of mainly solvent-based technologies.

The story carries on into the future.

The company positioned itself on the market, extending its offer of water-based products to the upholstery and automotive (car leather interiors) industries, at the same time as it penetrated onto the market of footwear, clothin and leather goods.
The growth and specialisation of its technical staff, always with customers’ needs in mind, enabled the GSC Group to further extend its offer of innovative solutions into several application segments for tanning leathers.

After pursuing a growth and investment policy, the GSC Group, as it currently is, was formed in 2009. The EXEL (chemical products for the tanning industry mainly dedicated to automotive and upholstery) and LETEX (pigments, wet and finishing products for making fashion leather goods) companies were bought out. In 2012, the VANDONI brand (products and technologies used to treat hides for footwear and leather goods) was added. With the aim to provide a line of highly specialised and exclusive products in the offer, the buying out of the products of the Touchmill brand line of BER CHIMICA (products used in the dry milling of leather) was concluded in 2014.
